Jinmao Palace: A Poetic Blend of Architecture and Nature

Zhen Chu's Award-Winning Design Transforms Sales Center into a Tranquil Oasis

The design of Jinmao Palace is inspired by the surrounding landscape of Shenwu Village. Drawing on the rolling mountains and surging water that characterize the area, Zhen Chu has created a "city of mountains and water" within the sales center. The brick walls, reminiscent of ancient Chinese city walls, and the interplay of light and shadows through grilles, produce a charming and elegant oriental ambience.

Continuing the architectural style into the interior, Zhen Chu has used concise design languages to outline the space, featuring large surfaces. The design extracts forms of mountains and water, bringing in nature to create a poetic interior ambience. The sales center provides a restraining spatial experience at first, then gradually opens up another world, attracting visitors to explore and immerse themselves into it.

The realization of this design was a meticulous process. To ensure perfect effects, strip bricks were fixed onto walls by hand. The sales center was transformed from an old building with low ceiling and large floor area. The challenge was to optimize the spatial proportions and raise the storey height with minimum transformation work, while ensuring openness and expansiveness of spaces.

The project, which started in April 2019 and was completed in October 2019, has been recognized for its unique design approach. It was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. The award is given to designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation, showcasing a remarkable level of excellence and introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.

With the Jinmao Palace, Zhen Chu and his team have demonstrated the transformative power of design. They have created a space that not only serves its functional purpose as a sales center, but also offers a tranquil retreat from the bustling city, inviting visitors to explore and immerse themselves in a poetic blend of architecture and nature.
